How Have Golf Ball’s Changed Over the Years?
The golf ball has changed a lot over the years, golf has been around for many years now, and different engineers have all taken time to try and create the perfect design ball that will allow for precision distance and control whilst sticking to the authorities rule guides.
The first version of the golf ball dates back to the mid 1800′s and was created by tightly cramming down feathers within a leather casing that was sown up to keep all the feathers inside, later this knowledge was applied to the football and many other games involving balls.
The more modern day disposable golf ball contains a liquid and rubber band material, these are made not for performance but for durability and cost cutting practices. These more modern balls have been used for about 40 year. Modern balls are created out of a synthetic rubber material that has the attributes of being extremely dense allowing for perfect flight.
There are many variations of the golf ball, and it depends from manufacturer to manufacturer as what makes up the centre of a golf ball. Some manufacturers will have several different layers within the outer shell.
The most complicated structure of the golf ball involves the middle being made out of a liquid latex and created into a perfect sphere, there is then about a mile of tightly wound elastic band wrapped around the ball. What is then surrounded by an additional layer of rubber is completed by a thick white dimpled layer. This is an example of a four-piece ball but there are classifications of two-piece and three piece balls made out of any of the above characteristics. Golf batteries do not come in the same varieties.
There are many different specifications of golf balls that can be used but only a few are cleared for professional tournaments where electric golf trolleys may be concerned.
